Changing the World, one little star at a time…

We all know Christmas is right around the corner and if you attend Church regularly and have small children, you know this is Christmas Pageant time! I was in the middle of our Sunday School Class and a little boy put up his hand after he heard me say that those visiting can enter the play as angels if they wish (given they are the proper age etc.)

He asked me if we can put guards up and that those *kid* guards would make sure no one entered the play that did not have strict access. I asked what the strict access was and he said it was only for those children who had been attending the Sunday School classes and that any child that doesn’t attend the class would NOT be allowed into the Play.

I could really see this little guy’s point and recognized that he, along with the whole class, were preparing for this event. It wasn’t fair that the people who only came once or twice got to participate in something he was working hard for. BUT, then I thought of the parable of the workers and what Jesus said. He promised wages for each man and gave them all the same reward in the end for their work…Whether it was in the long hours, or in the short.

I want to show Christ at any given moment in our classroom. After-all, we want this Christmas Play to be a time to share the gospel and celebrate our salvation through the Saviour, who was sent to us by God our Father, right! What better way to show this to those that may need it the most!

I explained this to him and said we need to show more love to those that need it the most and that those children and their family will be welcomed in as if they are our family….even, if they are in the last hour…even, if we have been working longer than they have! What better way to live in Christ, then to act on our faith and His words!

This little star of the show’s heart was changed and that was enough for me…

Mathew 20:12 |

So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. 9And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. 10But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. 11And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, 12Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. 13But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? 14Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. 15Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? 16So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
